Help Us:
- Teach children in small groups. The ideal situation
for a positive, meaningful learning experience.
- Serve more children. Volunteers help us serve
as many students as we can while still protecting the natural environment.
- Offer more scholarships. Our small salaried staff
allows us to give more scholarships to low-income students. Nearly
3,800 students receive scholarships every year.
- Better represent diversity of people. Volunteers
help our crew of teachers to reflect the many cultures, languages
and lifestyles of student visitors.

Hidden Villa was originally the home of Frank and Josephine
Duveneck and their family who over the years devel-oped educational and
social awareness programs for young people. Today, Hidden Villa is a nonprofit
1,600-acre organic farm and wilder-ness preserve dedicated to inspiring
a just and sustain-able future through our multicultural and environmen-tal
education programs for children, youth, and the community.
Hidden Villa receives no city, county or other govern-ment
funds with which to operate our programs. More than 60% of our budget
comes through gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations. About
40% comes from fees.
Outright Gifts
A cash gift to Hidden Villa provides a base of support for programs, services,
maintenance, and improvement needs. Such gifts can also be made to our
endowment fund. Gifts by credit card are also welcome.
Employer Matching Gifts
You can double your gift to Hidden Villa if your employer matches charitable
contributions. Contact your human resources office to see about matching
gift opportunities.
Real Estate, Stocks and Bonds
When you give gifts of appreciated real estate, stocks and bonds to Hidden
Villa, you get a tax benefit, because the deduction you generally take
is not reduced by the capital gains taxes you would otherwise have to
pay.
Charitable Lead Trusts
When you establish a Charitable Lead Trust, the income generated from
the trust goes to Hidden Villa for a finite period that you choose. At
the end of this period, the principal is returned to you or passes to
a beneficiary named by you. A Charitable Lead Trust can provide income
and minimize estate and capital gains taxes.
Life Insurance
A new or existing life insurance policy may provide a charitable income
tax deduction when you name Hidden Villa as the beneficiary and/or owner
of the policy. You may receive an income tax deduction for the present
cash value of the policy and/or the future premiums you pay.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
Charitable Remainder Trusts offer a way for you to donate assets to a
trust while retaining the income. The trust will pay income to you and/or
another person you name for life or a finite period. Thereafter, the trust
assets will be distributed to Hidden Villa. CRTs can provide significant
estate and capital gains tax advan-tages.
Bequests
By naming Hidden Villa in your will, you leave a legacy for the future.
By simply adding a paragraph to your will, you may designate a specific
dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a specific asset such as
stocks, bonds or real estate. When individuals notify us that Hidden Villa
is a beneficiary in their estate plan, they are invited to become members
of our Duveneck Legacy Society and are honored annually at a luncheon.
